How to choose a 360 mm AIO liquid cooler for your PC

A 360 mm AIO must fit the case, support the processor socket, and match the available motherboard connections. A safe decision starts with physical clearance and ends with correct installation.

Checklist before buying

  • Confirm that the case supports a 360 mm radiator with the fans installed.
  • Check the processor socket and the included mounting hardware.
  • Plan the pump, fan, 5 V ARGB, and display or software USB connections.
  • Treat TDP as a reference and also consider the CPU, workload, airflow, and ambient temperature.
01

Case clearance and radiator placement

A case advertised with 360 mm support does not automatically fit every assembly. Check its manual for the allowed position, total radiator-and-fan thickness, and clearance from the motherboard, memory, graphics card, and other components.

Front, top, or side mounting changes the airflow path and internal clearance. Follow the case and cooler manufacturers' guidance, leave a safe route for the tubes, and avoid forcing tight bends.

  • Actual 360 mm radiator support
  • Total assembly thickness
  • Memory and motherboard clearance
  • Safe tube routing
02

Socket, block, and mounting hardware

Match the exact processor socket to the cooler compatibility list. Intel and AMD platforms may use different brackets, screws, and spacers; use only the parts specified for your platform.

Clean the surface as directed, apply or preserve the supplied thermal interface, and tighten the block evenly without exceeding the recommended torque. Misalignment can reduce thermal contact.

03

Pump, fans, ARGB, and display

Before routing cables, identify the power and control connectors for the pump and fans. The motherboard may provide dedicated headers, and its manual explains the correct connection and speed configuration.

A 5 V ARGB device must not be connected to a 12 V RGB header. Models with a display or control software may also require an internal USB 2.0 header and additional power. Confirm that the required ports are free and install only the official software specified by the manufacturer.

04

Thermal capacity, noise, and real use

A TDP figure helps describe the intended product class, but it is not standardized across all manufacturers. Results depend on the processor, power limits, sustained workload, fan curve, thermal contact, airflow, and ambient temperature.

After installation, monitor temperature, speed, noise, and stability in your normal workload. Fan-curve adjustments can balance performance and acoustics while remaining within the operating range stated in the manual.

360 mm AIO questions

Does a 360 mm AIO fit every case?+

No. The case must support the radiator and provide room for the complete thickness, tubes, and nearby components.

Can I connect 5 V ARGB to 12 V RGB?+

No. The voltage and pin layout are different, and an incorrect connection may damage the lighting. Check both manuals first.

Does a block display require an internal USB header?+

Many displays use internal USB 2.0 and dedicated software, but requirements vary. Confirm the exact model connections.

Does the listed TDP guarantee a specific temperature?+

No. TDP is a capacity reference, not a temperature guarantee, because the final result depends on the entire system and operating conditions.

Technical information is educational and may change as standards and products evolve. Always confirm the manuals and official specifications for your exact hardware before purchasing or installing.
